HOW WE FIRST MET

Jimmy and I met at a college study abroad program in Italy in the year of 2002. Fifty students from all over California were recruited by a community college program to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Jimmy and I we were part of the group. The program started by traveling for one week to different cities starting with Rome, Pompeii, Napoli and we ended up in Florence. The first night of the program the hosts gave us a dinnner in Rome to welcome all the students to the program. In that restaurant was the first time I saw Jimmy and I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him. I knew he was the one for me. Therefore, since the first moment I saw him I could not resist flirting with him. At the same time I was so excited to be in that beautiful city, I had so many feelings inside that I wanted to let them out by screaming so loud in the streets. So I dared jimmy to go with me to the middle of the street and scream “I love to be in Rome!” He said yes and we did it. It was like 11:00 PM but we did not care and we screamed like crazy “we love to be in Rome…” Then we held hands and we walked with the rest of the group back to the hotel we were staying in.

First Date

We actually did not have first date because since we were in a tour we had to be with the group 24/7. But the second day we went to the Trevi fountain in Rome. legend suggested that it is lucky to throw three coins with one’s right hand over one’s left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain. We threw 3 coins together each for good luck–First, to ensure go back to Rome, second to ensure fall in love in Rome and the third one I forgot what ensures. But Jimmy threw a fourth one, and I asked why and he said I asked to kiss you in Rome, and then we kissed in front of the Trevi fountain. It was around midnight and almost no one was there just us and the fountain’s light. It was one of the most magical moments of my life.

Our Song

Fix Me, by Coldplay. Jimmy’s roommates had MTV channel on most of the time, since was the only channel they understood because the rest were in Italian. And Coldplay was on all the time with a different album, but it remained one of our favorite bands and later we always listened to Fix Me.

Challenges

When we came back from our amazing experience studying abroad in one of the most artistic countries in the world, we faced some Challenges:. I went back to my hometown which was San Diego, CA and Jimmy went back to his Bay Area. After two months of long distance relationship Jimmy decided it was better to break up and soon after he was together with somebody else. Since Jimmy was my first love I felt devastated when he broke up with me.

When did you realize they were “The One?”

Two years went by without hearing anything from each other until The Christmas night of 2004 under the tree there was a mysterious present for me. I opened it up and it was a book “The Alchemist” signed by Jimmy Sigona. That book gave me so much peace and hope and helped me to believe in love again. A few days after he came to visit me I fell in love again at first sight of him and I felt he was the one. For Jimmy he knew I was the one when he saw that I had loved him even through the worst of times. We connected again like we were right back in Italy.

Anything Else?

After two years of living together in the bay area, Jimmy proposed to me and we got married May 19 2007. Ten of our friends who studied abroad with us in Italy were our bridesmaids and groomsmen for the wedding ceremony. We lived Happily Ever After…
