I’m Jill Bourque the host and creator of HOW WE FIRST MET™, now celebrating its tenth year!

Let me start off by saying that HOW WE FIRST MET is not your typical theater or comedy show. This show is totally unique and spontaneous.

In HOW WE FIRST MET, couples are interviewed live while an improv ensemble recreates pivotal story moments with improvised sketches and songs. We create a show from scratch based on stories from the audience.

I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true! Through the magic of improvisation we bring their story to life right on stage in all kinds of imaginative and hilarious ways.

I don’t want to ruin all the surprises. HOW WE FIRST MET is something you have to see to believe. I’ll just say this: you’ve never experienced anything like it before and you’ll laugh…a lot. It’s funny because the stories are real.

I know what you might be thinking: Am I going to be dragged on stage? Absolutely not! In fact, since the show has become so popular many couples vie to be on it. They are “elected” beforehand from ticket buyers, who are sent a short questionnaire, which are posted online for voting.  The top three couples star in the show.

Our next Valentine’s Day show will be in San Francisco (Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14, 2010) at the gorgeous 920-seat Herbst Theatre in San Francisco’s Civic Center, right across from City Hall. It’s a big, beautiful venue, but still has a very intimate and cozy feel.  And there are lots of great places nearby to have dinner before the show.
